Theft from Motor Vehicle - Furtherground, Hemel Hempstead, HP2 4LQ

Dear Resident

Between the 08th and the 09th of April 2025, between 12:30hrs and 04:00hrs, a theft from a vehicle occurred in Furtherground, Hemel Hempstead, HP2 4LQ.

The victim left his vehicle parked outside his front address locked and secure. When the victim came back to his vehicle the next day early in the morning, he found his vehicle unlocked and a strong smell of cigarettes was in it, with ash on the floor too. The victim noticed that a messy search took place in his vehicle and a pair of of SunGod McLaren sunglasses - clear frame with blue lenses have been taken, valued at £150.

The victim's vehicle details are unknown at the moment, the only information provided so far was the registration plate, KE69OXD.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Remove your satnav and holder and wipe away suction marks which could indicate that a satnav is stored in your vehicle.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them lying around, visible or in pockets in changing rooms where they could be taken. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.

Secure number plates with anti-theft screws.
